Roger's works have been strongly influenced by his affinity with the Irish landscape and way of life. His subjects are varied - sea scapes, bogs, churches, castles, harbours, street and market scenes. Having been a former all-Ireland GAA player and sportsman, sporting activities feature frequently in his work.

A scholarship to Dublin College of Music, Dublin Feis Ceoil success, and private art lessons were the gateway to Roger's life-long committment to painting and music. He was a graduate of UCD and worked as a Telecommunications Engineer before becoming a full-time Artist and Tutor. Painting, however, took centre-stage in his life in the mid-1970s when he moved to Limerick city. It was then that his successful early exhibitions began to foreshadow his current solo sellout shows.

Most of his exhibitions have been in the North Munster and Western seaboard areas. He has also exhibited successfully in Dublin and the U.S.A. He was a founder member of the Adare Studio Group and Gallery 75 (Limerick city). Roger currently teaches art and co-manages Gallery 75 in Limerick city, where his paintings are regularly on display.
